Pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel protesters at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) released a list of demands amidst their ongoing demonstrations and Gaza encampment on campus.
The list, obtained by Fox News’ Bill Melugin, was published in a Google document and released by a local Students for Justice in Palestine chapter.
Protesters demanded their requests be compliant with the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which is a pro-Palestinian effort seeking the divestment of economic connection to Israel.
According to the document, protestors requested “URGENT” need for headlamps, airsoft goggles, gas masks/respirators, “skater helmets,” shields, “wood for barrier,” knee and elbow pads, rain ponchos, canopies, utility gloves “without reinforced knuckles,” “super bright flashlights with strobe,” and umbrellas.
Demonstrators also requested medical equipment such as epi-pens, non-steroid inhalers, headlamps, and organizational bins.
Included in their request were demands for specific food including “vegan” and “gluten free” options, though the document specified protesters did not want pre-packaged food, coffee, bagels, bananas, or any food containing nuts.
Demonstrators also requested other aid including sleeping bags, various sizes of batteries, rope, zip ties, electrical/solar powered generators, lotion, and Aquaphor. The document specified protesters did not want sunscreen.
Protests at UCLA devolved into riots over the last two nights as a pro-Israel faction clashed with pro-Palestinian demonstrators.
Following last night’s riot, demonstrators issued further demands of the university including the divestment of economic connection to Israel along with full disclosure and transparency of the university’s finances.
“Withdraw all UC-wide and UCLA Foundation funds from companies and institutions that are complicit in the Israeli occupation, apartheid, and genocide of the Palestinian people,” the new demands read. “Provide full transparency to all UC-wide and UCLA Foundation assets including investments, donations, and grants.”
Protesters also demanded the abolishment of police.
“End the targeted repression and policing of pro-Palestinian advocacy on campus, and sever all ties with the LAPD,” the demands concluded.
LAPD dispersed UCLA’s Gaza encampment early this morning leading to the arrest of roughly 100 students and other agitators.
Over 1,000 were reportedly in attendance at last night’s riot.
UCLA’s riot follows Monday night’s riot at Columbia University as agitators sieged and occupied Hamilton Hall on campus.
The following morning, University Spokesperson Ben Chang announced students participating in the siege of the building would face expulsion while others involved will be suspended.
“Protesters have chosen to escalate to an untenable situation – vandalizing property, breaking doors and windows, and blockading entrances – and we are following through with the consequences we outlined yesterday,” Chang wrote in a statement. “Students occupying the building face expulsion.”
