Islamists March for a Caliphate in Germany

by State Brief

On Saturday hundreds of Islamists marched through the centre of Hamburg to demand the establishment of an Islamic Caliphate in Germany.

Estimates suggest over a thousand demonstrators may have attended the event, which gathered in the Steindamm Street area of the city to hear speeches.

Participants bore placards and banners with slogans such as “The Caliphate is the solution” and “Palestine has won the information war,” and marched to cries of “Allahu Akhbar!” (“God is great!”).

According to German media, the rally was organized in protest against “Islamophobic policies” and “media disinformation” against Muslims in Germany.

Speakers at the event accused German politicians and journalists of  “cheap lies” and “cowardly reporting” in response to the Israel-Gaza war.

The event was organized by a young self-styled imam called Joe Adabe Boateng and a group called Muslim Interaktiv. It was legally approved and monitored by the country’s Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

In 2023, Muslim Interaktiv organized demonstrations in Sweden against a Koran burning that took place. Some German politicians have called for the group to be banned.
